Creating an RSA enVision Backup

You can back up the RSA enVision log data files and configuration files. This chapter
describes how to back up your enVision files.
Prepare For Backup
As a prerequisite for effective backup and recovery, create and maintain the following
information for each enVision appliance:
• Appliance name
• Image version
• BIOS version
• RSA enVision version
• Hot fixes
• Network settings

Back Up RSA enVision

To back up enVision:
1. Log on to enVision with administrator credentials.
2. Open a command shell, and change directories to the
%_ENVISION%\WinSSHD directory.
Note: The %_ENVISION% variable represents the location
E:\nic\version\nodename, where:
• version is your enVision version.
• nodename is the name of your node.
3. Save the WinSSHD settings. Depending on your version of enVision, do one of
the following:
• For RSA enVision 4.0 Service Pack 2 or later, type:
wcfg.exe settings exportText winsshd_settings.txt
• For RSA enVision 4.0 and RSA enVision 4.0 Service Pack 1, type:
wcfg.exe export settings winsshd_settings.txt
Note: If your enVision site is a multiple appliance site, run the appropriate

4. Change directories to the %_ENVISION%\database\cmd directory.
5. Save the nic.db and appserver.db databases. Type:
dbbkup.cmd


Note: During recovery of an appliance, you can restore the saved WinSSHD settings 
and nic.db and appserver.db databases if needed.
Back Up Files

RSA recommends that you back up the files and directories listed in the following 
table, in addition to all other previously specified files and directories.


Note: %_ENVISION%\webapps\pi\piquery is only available if you have saved queries.
